SJCCA Dance Audition Information
Below you will find all of the information you need to audition to be a part of the SJCCA Dance program at St. Augustine High School. Make sure you are reading the correct information under the proper title!
Current Student Auditions for 2024-2025
Auditions for current dance students took place in December 2024.
Current SJCCA Dance Students:
In class, students will be taken through various across-the floor exercises and combinations to determine growth, pick-up skills, and performance quality.
9th-11th grade students will be given a preliminary recommendation for the 2024-2025 school year by January 2024. A list will be posted by student number determining your recommendation around this time.
PLEASE NOTE: most students will be recommended for their current level this early on in the year. Changes can and will be made over the 3rd and 4th quarter so never.quit.working.
To be clear, Ms. Schippani rarely makes a decision to move students up or down this early in the school year. She has to be 100% sure as work ethic, attendance, grades, and ability are all factors in this decision-making process.

What Happens After Auditions? If you have been accepted into the dance program at SAHS, the class you have been recommended for will appear on your '24-'25 schedule. Do not pay attention to the course title. The letter that comes at the end of the course code determines what level you have been recommended for based on your audition. See below for the key: I= Intermediate Dance A= Advanced Dance E= Elite Dance If you would like to take two dance classes, you can request this via email after your schedule has been made (send request to [email protected]). This option is only available to intermediate, advanced, and elite dancers. Your second dance class will be the level below what you were recommended for and will only be placed on your schedule if there is room in the class and if it fits in your schedule. For example, if you are recommended for "Advanced Dance" the only other dance class you could take is "Intermediate Dance" Please be prepared to supply your own leotards, tights, ballet and jazz shoes once you are a dance student at SAHS. There will be an option to borrow donated items but there is no guarantee in getting your preferred size or style. Also, note there is a Fair Share Fee for the following: Intermediate Dance: $200 Advanced Dance: $250 Elite Dance: $250 These fees are assessed to each student in that class. If you take two dance classes, you will need to pay the Fair Share Fee for both. No first-year dance students are accepted onto The Collective. |
